Monika underwent early medical and specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in India before moving to England, where she gained exposure to urogynaecology and colposcopy and her MRCOG. Monika commenced practising in Australia and was awarded Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2017.
She is a generalist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who runs O&G clinics and consults patients with a wide range of gynaecological problems, such as (but not limited to) management of menstrual disorders, fertility related issues and high risk pregnancies. Procedures performed by Monika include: prolapse surgery; hysterectomy; hysteroscopy; curette; laparoscopy; diagnostic and treatment of endometriosis; laparoscopic removal of ovarian cysts, oophorectomy, ectopic pregnancy; treatment of cervical abnormalities, including LLETZ and cone biopsy; endometrial ablation; insertion / removal Mirena and Copper IUD; removal of genital warts with diathermy.
In her private clinic at the Shepparton Women's Health Centre, Monika performs various procedures, such as colposcopy / vulvoscopy and biopsy; insertion / removal of IUDS; taking of PAP smears; removal of polyps; endometrial sampling; pessary treatment for prolapse and ultrasound scanning.
As part of her ongoing commitment to medical education, Monika is involved in teaching medical students. She was an Assistant Professor (Obs and Gynae) in India and is currently an honorary lecturer with the University of Melbourne.
She is very approachable and easy to talk to, which helps her develop a connection with all her patients, regardless of ethnicity or cultural background. Apart from English, she is fluent in Hindi and also speaks Punjabi and Urdu.
