Some interesting facts about Private Hospitals.

Did you know that:

  • Private hospitals are performing more high technology procedures than ever before and patients admitted to Shepparton Private are often transferred to Melbourne Private Hospital for advanced Cardiac Procedures.
  • 55% of all joint replacements are carried out in private hospitals. Shepparton Private has 3 consultant orthopaedic surgeons experienced in all types of joint replacements so in most instances there is no need to travel to Melbourne for major joint replacement surgery.
70 % of all lens procedures eg Cataract surgery and lens implants are carried out in private hospitals. Four ophthalmic surgeons perform operations at SPH for patients from a wide variety of locations within our region.
  • Being a private patient in a private hospital relieves the strain on our very busy public hospital system. If there were no private hospitals the waiting times for elective surgery would be even longer than they are now in the public hospital system.
