December 04 Edition Of The Shepparton Advisor Monthly Column

HOSPITAL’S COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY SERVICE CONTINUES

Last month’ edition of our column spoke about the significant commitment and contribution by a cross section of Shepparton Private Hospital’s staff in raising money for the Relay for Life – in fact over $7000 raised in the 2004 relay bringing our combined total over the past 3 years to over $20,000 !

In this month’s column we continue to ? profile or update you on our commitment to community service.

Meals on Wheel’s
Every month, different groups from the hospital, ward nurses, operating suite, administration staff and the executive , volunteer to assist the Greater Shepparton City Council Meals on Wheels program in delivering meals to the people in the community. This has been a commitment established in the past 12 month’s as part of our desire to help our community. The hospital encourages staff to volunteer their services, and provides transportation and pays staff wages, whilst providing this valuable service.

SHEPPARTON PRIVATE HOSPITAL’S PRE ADMISSION SERVICE

The hospital provides a special, individualised pre-admission service for patients undergoing more complex procedures, or those with complex medical problems. We have a dedicated Pre Admission Team of very experienced Registered Nurses , Margaret Mouser, Vicki Lloyd and Karen Ackland (Ph 5832 1200).

The service provides a comprehensive pre admission check to ensure all tests are completed and your health status is fully assessed in conjunction with your doctor. In addition, the service ensures you receive adequate information and education regarding all aspects of your admission and any procedure you may be having. Plans for your care after discharge are also commenced at pre – admission to ensure that when discharged all required assistance is in place
This is very important to ensure your peace of mind and preparation for your admission. It ensures a streamlined and seamless approach to your admission, care and discharge planning.

Margaret Mouser is also the hospital’s Veteran’s Affairs Liaison Officer, and assists veterans and their families with matters regarding their admission, hospital care and discharge. Shepparton Private Hospital is a Department of Veteran’s Affairs Tier One (Preferred Provider) hospital.

Community Information Evenings
